Previews

A preview plays an export of a composition in a browser. Anyone with the link can comment on a frame, and the comments come back to Lumit. It is part of Lumit Pro: the person sending needs it, and reviewers do not.

  1. Front the composition, or select it in the Project panel.
  2. Choose Composition ▸ Send as a preview….
  3. Set the fields and press Create link.
FieldWhat it sets
TitleWhat the link is called.
Size1080p or 720p.
SpanThe whole composition, or the work area.
ReviewersCan comment lets reviewers leave comments.

When the upload finishes, the link is on the clipboard and the heading reads Link copied. A click on the address copies it again and shows Copied to clipboard in its place.

  • Missing footage shows as colour bars.
  • A file can be up to 2 GB.
  • An account holds up to 1,000 links.

Sending a composition again shows a Send as row. New version of, with the link’s title, adds a version to it. Separate link makes a new link instead. A link holds up to 50 versions, and a comment stays with the version it was made on.

What changed is a short note shown beside the version. Lumit fills it in, and it can be typed over.

A link is marked Changed when its composition has been edited since it was sent. Send a new version sends one.

File ▸ Share preview… opens the Previews window, which lists the links, newest activity first. A dot marks a link with comments or approvals that have not been seen.

The Comments page lists the comments on the chosen version. Open shows the ones that are not resolved, and All shows every one.

A comment can carry a pin, an arrow or a box, a drawing, a picture, or a range of frames. One that points at a layer names it.

Timecodes work when the link’s composition is in the open project.

Add to Timeline puts every open comment on the chosen version onto the Timeline as markers, in one undo step.

  • A comment that points at a layer becomes a layer marker. Every other comment becomes a marker on the composition.
  • A marker’s label is the reviewer’s name and the comment: Ana: Hold this a beat longer.
  • A comment on a range of frames becomes a region.
  • Each reviewer has one colour.
  • Replies, likes and resolved comments are not added.
