Mood lighting
Last updated
Mood lighting is a Stylise effect.

What it does
Section titled “What it does”Soft pools of light are laid over the picture, warm where a pool lands and cool between them, and the contrast is lifted under them. The pools are a noise field, repeatable from a seed. Drift moves through the field rather than redrawing it.

In the Effect Controls panel:
- Matte scales Intensity and Contrast per pixel: white lights and grades in full, grey more gently, black leaves the picture alone. Invert reads that matte inverted.
What each control does
Section titled “What each control does”- Intensity: how far the light pulls the picture either side of neutral. At 0 only Contrast is left.
- Light colour: the colour of the light inside a pool. A mid grey changes nothing.
- Shade colour: the colour of the light between the pools. A mid grey changes nothing.
- Scale: the size of one pool.
- Drift: one full turn moves the pools on by one of their own widths.
- Contrast: a scale about mid-grey, as Contrast applies it.
- Seed: which arrangement of pools this instance lights with.
- Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
- Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
