In the Effect Controls panel:

  • Matte is an input to an effect, scaling the strength. Invert inverts the mattes for calculating strength.
  • Mode: Manual for keyframed hits, Trigger for one flash per beat marker, Strobe for one every so many beats.
  • Trigger: Manual mode’s hits.
  • Duration: how long a beat-driven flash lasts.
  • Shape: change how the flash should or shouldn’t fade.
  • Every Nth beat: in Strobe mode, how many beats to skip between flashes.
  • Phase offset: shifts beat-driven flashes earlier or later.
  • Intensity: scales the intensity of the flash.
  • Colour: what colour the flash is.
  • Decay: how quickly a Manual hit fades.
  • Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
  • Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
