Audio plays in preview, and exporting will retain audio unless specifically turned off.
Audio layers
Section titled “Audio layers”An Audio layer is sound with no picture. Placing an audio file in a composition makes one. To take just the sound of an item that has a picture too, right-click the item in the Project panel and choose Add audio only.
An Audio layer has no visibility switch.

Waveforms
Section titled “Waveforms”In the Timeline, a Footage layer draws its audio waveform in its lane, and clips inside a Sequence layer draw theirs inside their own box. The drawing is trimmed and retimed along with the layer.
There are several options in Edit ▸ Settings ▸ Interface for how to display waveforms.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Waveform frequency stack | Splits the waveform into low, mid, and high frequency bands. |
| Waveforms from the bottom | Draws the waveform from the bottom of the row instead of centred. |
Beat markers
Section titled “Beat markers”Lumit can read a composition’s audio and place a beat marker on each detected beat.
- Composition ▸ Detect beats runs the detection.
- Composition ▸ Clear beat markers removes all beat markers in the composition.
