Emboss is a Stylise effect.


What it does
Section titled “What it does”The picture is treated as a surface with height and lit from one direction, resulting in a stamped-metal look.

In the Effect Controls panel:
- Matte scales Relief per pixel: white raises the full relief, grey a shallower one, black leaves the sheet flat. Invert reads that matte inverted.
What each control does
Section titled “What each control does”- Direction: the direction light is applied from.
- Relief: the distance between the neighbours a pixel compares against.
- Contrast: the gain on the relief.
- Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
- Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
