Shadow highlight
Last updated
Shadow highlight is a Colour effect.

What it does
Section titled “What it does”The effect lifts dark regions of a picture, and can pull bright regions down.
Whether a pixel counts as a shadow or highlight is based on how bright its surroundings are, and not just its own brightness.

What each control does
Section titled “What each control does”- Shadow amount: amount to lift dark regions.
- Shadow tonal width: range that counts as a shadow.
- Highlight amount: amount to pull down highlight regions.
- Highlight tonal width: range that counts as a highlight.
- Radius: the area to compare against to determine if a pixel is a shadow/highlight.
- Colour correction: how much saturation is added back where the picture was adjusted.
- Midtone contrast: adjusts contrast of mid-tones, since they can otherwise end up crushed.
- Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
- Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
