Package and share

A package is one .lfx file: an extension’s folder as a zip, with extension.json at its root. It carries everything the folder does: the page and its effects.

Settings ▸ Addons ▸ Extensions ▸ Make a package takes the folder, checks it as an install would, and saves <id>.lfx. A package is held to the same limits as a folder. One holding a link, or a path outside its root, is refused.

An extension’s effects travel in its package. Make a package checks them as an install would: the category, the api, the passes, and that each shader is inside the folder.

A package installs with a double-click, by dropping it on the window, or from Settings ▸ Addons ▸ Extensions ▸ Install a package. Double-clicking a package while Lumit is open sends it to the open Lumit.

The install window lists what the package adds, as Add effects: Blinds, and what it asks to be allowed.

Installing a package again replaces the extension and reads its shaders again, and an open project draws with the new ones at once.

A project that uses an effect whose extension isn’t installed opens, leaves the picture alone and keeps every value. The effect’s heading names the extension to install.

Looks are not packaged. A colour scheme travels as its .lumtheme file, read by Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Your themes ▸ Import…. A style is a .lumstyle file, or a folder with its pictures and icons, put in the styles folder. Icons are SVG files put in the Custom icons folder.

An extension installer of the author’s own copies the folder into a folder Lumit looks in. See Where extensions are found.
