Exposure is a Colour effect.

Exposure multiplies light rather than being additive, so blacks remain black.

In the Effect Controls panel:

  • Matte scales Stops toward 0 per pixel: white applies the full Stops, grey a fraction of them, black none. Invert reads that matte inverted.
  • Stops is the amount to increase or decrease exposure by. This is equivalent to doublings and halvings.
  • Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
  • Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
