Ripple

Ripple is a Distortion effect.

What it does
Section titled “What it does”Rings of distortion spread out from a point, fading away with distance. Animate Evolution and the rings travel.

In the Effect Controls panel:
- Matte scales Wave height per pixel: white ripples the full height, grey less, black not at all. Invert reads that matte inverted.
What each control does
Section titled “What each control does”- Radius: how far the rings reach.
- Centre X and Centre Y: the point ripples emit from.
- Type: Symmetric slides each pixel in and out along the radius. Asymmetric adds a sideways component a quarter wave out of step.
- Wave height: the largest displacement of a pixel.
- Wave width: the distance from one crest to the next.
- Evolution: adjusts the phase of the ripple.
- Mix: how much of the result replaces the original.
- Matte and Invert drive the strength of the effect from another layer’s brightness; see Effects.
